There is no bitcoin ATM in Herzliya
Herzliya is an affluent coastal city of about 111,000 people, home to Herzliya Pituach, one of Israel’s leading high-tech and venture-capital districts, as well as Reichman University and the marina. Yet as of October 2026 it does not have a single bitcoin ATM or crypto cash desk. The Bitcoin Change branch list, OpenStreetMap and BTC Map all agree on that. We could not check Coin ATM Radar, which blocks automated access.
People do search for “bitcoin ATM Herzliya”, but in this city the real question is usually a different one. Not where to put in ₪500, but how to move a large sum cleanly, and how to keep it safe.
The nearest desks: Ramat Gan or Netanya
Closest is the Tuval St 36 desk in Ramat Gan, about 10 km in a straight line and one of only three points in Israel mapped as a true ATM. Next come King George St 50 in Tel Aviv, about 12 km, and Sha’ar HaEmek St 3 in Netanya, about 19 km. Add roughly 20–40% by road. Watch the Friday difference: Ramat Gan closes at 13:00, Netanya at 14:00.
The rules are the same at every branch: two valid ID documents, a short questionnaire, a 7% fee on buys and sells, and caps of ₪10,000 a day, ₪20,000 a week and ₪30,000 a month. The operator works under a temporary CMISA permit (57960), with a full licence application pending.
Buying crypto in Herzliya, by the size of the amount
An ATM suits small sums. As the amount grows, the route changes: first to a bank transfer to a licensed platform, then, above a certain size, to an OTC desk where you get a personal quote instead of a screen price.
| Amount | Route | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Up to ₪10,000 a day, in cash | Bitcoin Change, Ramat Gan or Netanya | 7% each way, two IDs |
| From ₪750, by bank transfer | Bits of Gold / Bit2C | Permanent CMISA licence |
| Large volumes, no stated minimum | Bit2C OTC | By WhatsApp or email, in shekels |
| From ₪250,000 | Bits of Gold Premium | Dedicated quote, tax-voucher handling |
| From about $50,000 | Kraken OTC | SWIFT in USD or EUR, no shekels |
Minimums and terms per operator sites, 5 October 2026. Kraken holds no Israeli licence, and its site says availability varies by jurisdiction.
What sets the Israeli OTC desks apart is not just price. The Bits of Gold Premium service comes with an account manager, a dedicated quote and handling of tax vouchers. Bit2C charges 1% (minimum ₪2,000) to pay tax directly, as a pilot. That matters because with large sums the hard part is rarely the purchase. It is the exit: getting the money back into an Israeli bank.

Bank of Israel Directive 411 requires banks to run risk-based and source-of-funds checks, especially above roughly ₪100,000 a year. A draft directive dated 14 July 2026 proposes a fast track for money from licensed Israeli firms, so the cleanest route is usually a licensed Israeli platform straight into your own bank account.
One Zero checks crypto-sourced funds in-house for a 3% fee. Money arriving by SWIFT from a foreign desk can expect closer scrutiny. More in our banks guide and OTC guide.
The Herzliya crypto robbery, and what it teaches
On 7 September 2025, according to Decrypt and DL News, three assailants waited in the stairwell of a residential building in Herzliya. At around 08:10 they forced their way into a crypto trader’s flat, tied him up and stabbed him twice above the knee. They held him for more than an hour, threatened his family and forced him to transfer about $547,000 in bitcoin and $42,000 in USDT, some $590,000 in total. The Tel Aviv District Attorney indicted the alleged organiser and two accomplices, and the funds were allegedly laundered through foreign exchanges.
There is no need to turn this into a scare story, but there is something to learn. An attack like this does not hack a wallet. It targets a person known to hold crypto, and it relies on that person being able to move everything on the spot. The defence is therefore mostly privacy and structure.

- Do not meet strangers for cash trades

- Build in delay
Custody that needs several signatures (multisig) or a time lock stops everything being moved at once, even under pressure.

Ra’anana and Kfar Saba: no point there either
Herzliya’s neighbours to the north-east are in the same position. Ra’anana, with its high-tech park and large community of English-speaking olim, has no crypto point. The Tuval 36 desk is about 12.7 km away in a straight line and Netanya about 16 km. If you are an Anglo resident searching “buy crypto Ra’anana”, this is the page for you, and the same rules apply: two IDs at the desk, and Israeli tax on any gain.
Kfar Saba, a city of about 99,000 with Meir Medical Center, has no point either. Ramat Gan is about 14.2 km away and Netanya about 17 km. If you live on the northern side of either city, Netanya can be easier by road even though it is further as the crow flies. And if you do not need cash at all, you can buy from anywhere by bank transfer to a licensed platform: 1.20–1.95% at Bits of Gold (plus VAT) or 0.05–1.25% on Bit2C’s order book.
In Herzliya the right question is not where the nearest ATM is, but how the money gets back to the bank and who knows it exists.
For anyone holding a meaningful sum, the Ramat Gan machine is almost irrelevant: the cap is low and the fee is high. What does matter is a clean route (a licensed platform or Israeli OTC desk, then your own bank account), full records for the bank and the tax authority, and discretion. The fewer people who know what you hold, the better.
Herzliya on the map
The map shows Herzliya on the northern edge of Gush Dan, between the Ramat Gan and Netanya desks. The neighbours have their own pages: Ramat Gan, Netanya and Tel Aviv. All 11 points in Israel are on our bitcoin ATM Israel page.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a bitcoin ATM in Herzliya?
No. As of October 2026 Herzliya has no bitcoin ATM or crypto cash desk: none on the Bitcoin Change branch list, OpenStreetMap or BTC Map. The nearest points are Tuval St 36 in Ramat Gan (about 10 km in a straight line), King George St 50 in Tel Aviv (about 12 km) and Sha’ar HaEmek St 3 in Netanya (about 19 km).
How do I buy a large amount of crypto from Herzliya?
Not at an ATM: the cap there is ₪10,000 a day, and the cash law limits payments to a business to ₪6,000. For large sums there are shekel OTC desks, such as Bits of Gold Premium from ₪250,000 or Bit2C’s OTC desk, settled by bank transfer. Abroad, Kraken runs an OTC desk from about $50,000, settled by SWIFT in US dollars or euros.
What happened in the Herzliya crypto robbery?
According to Decrypt and DL News, on 7 September 2025 three assailants waited in the stairwell of a Herzliya crypto trader’s building, forced their way in, stabbed him twice and made him transfer about $547,000 in bitcoin and $42,000 in USDT. The Tel Aviv District Attorney indicted the alleged organiser and two accomplices. The funds were allegedly laundered through foreign exchanges.
What is the nearest crypto point to Ra’anana and Kfar Saba?
Neither city has one. From Ra’anana, the Tuval 36 desk in Ramat Gan is about 12.7 km in a straight line and the Netanya desk about 16 km. From Kfar Saba, Ramat Gan is about 14.2 km and Netanya about 17 km. If you live on the northern side of either city, Netanya is often simpler by road, but check the route.
Will my bank ask about money from selling crypto?
Probably, if the amount is meaningful. Bank of Israel Directive 411 bars banks from refusing simply because funds come from crypto, but requires risk-based and source-of-funds checks, especially above roughly ₪100,000 a year. A draft dated 14 July 2026 proposes a fast track for money arriving from licensed firms. Keep trade statements, wallet records and tax-payment proof.
