If you want to buy crypto in Rishon LeZion with cash, start at Rothschild Street 1, in the heart of the old town. That is where the Bitcoin Change branch sits, about 300 metres in a straight line from the city centre as OpenStreetMap places it, with staff and a machine that both buys and sells. It is the only bitcoin ATM in the Central District’s largest city, and the nearest desk for Rehovot, Nes Ziona, Yavne and even Ashdod.
Rishon also has two stories that pull in opposite directions. Maps show a Bit2C office here, an exchange licensed by the Capital Market Authority and now owned by eToro. And in February 2026 police raided an illegal crypto service in the city and found weapons and explosives. This page explains what Rishon has, what it doesn’t, and what to do in the towns around it. Checked on 5 October 2026.
Rothschild 1: the desk in the old city centre
The branch opens Sunday to Thursday from 10:00 to 19:00, an hour less than Tel Aviv, and on Friday from 09:00 to 14:00. It is closed on Shabbat. It buys and sells bitcoin, ether, bitcoin cash and USDT, for shekel cash only. The fee is 7% each way; in the operator’s own example, ₪100 in cash turns into bitcoin worth ₪93. Customers are capped at ₪10,000 a day, ₪20,000 a week and ₪30,000 a month.
First-timers need two valid ID documents and a short questionnaire, and should arrive with a wallet already installed on their phone. The branch was confirmed on OpenStreetMap and BTC Map in December 2024, but the entry still shows a 6% fee: that is the old rate, from before the operator raised it in 2026. Call 03-5334963 before you set off.
Because of where it is, Rothschild 1 serves far more than Rishon itself. From Holon it is about 6.6 km, almost the same as Tel Aviv. For Ashdod, a city of around 229,000 people with no crypto point at all, it is the nearest desk, about 24 km away, and for Ashkelon about 40 km. If you are coming up from Ashdod on a Friday, remember the desk closes at 14:00 and there is nothing else in the south open later except Beer Sheva, which is much further from Ashdod. Call first so you don’t make the trip for nothing.
February 2026: the raid on an illegal crypto service
On 22–23 February 2026 it was reported that Lahav 433’s national cyber crime unit had arrested five suspects after a covert investigation lasting months into an “illegal cryptocurrency financial service”. The searches covered homes and offices in Rishon LeZion, and what turned up looked nothing like any cash desk you would recognise.
Suspected cocaine was also reported. It is the clearest example we found in Israel of an unlicensed crypto-for-cash service exposed at city level, and it happened in the same city as a desk with a sign, opening hours and a phone number. The same report covered a separate raid in Kafr Qasim on an illegal “change” and lending business, but that one involved ordinary money, not crypto.

Bit2C on David Saharov Street: an office, not a cash point
In the city’s western business park, at David Saharov Street 11, OpenStreetMap marks a Bit2C office as a place that accepts bitcoin, ether, litecoin and shekels. The tag was last surveyed in September 2023 and Bit2C’s own website gave us no address, so don’t assume the office is still there. More importantly, even if it is, it is not a service point.
Bit2C, whose legal name is now Bitosi eToro Ltd, holds an expanded financial-asset service licence from the Capital Market Authority, number 72080. According to its FAQ you cannot deposit cash, cheques, foreign currency, cards or payment apps. Deposits come only by bank transfer from a single Israeli account in your own name, into a trust account at Discount Bank. Our full Bit2C review.
If you do want to use Bit2C, know the fees. Buying through its broker interface costs between 5% and 3.2%, not far off the Rothschild desk. Placing your own orders on the professional interface costs between 1.25% and 0.05%, the cheapest shekel route in Israel. Shekel deposits are free, a withdrawal to your bank costs ₪80 with a ₪180 minimum, and there is a custody fee of up to ₪7 a month, waived in any month you trade. eToro completed its acquisition of the company in the second quarter of 2026.
Bitcoin Change gets a “partly” on licensing because, according to its website, it holds a temporary continuation-of-activity permit (no. 57960) with a full licence application pending. Check the Capital Market Authority register yourself.
Rehovot, Nes Ziona and Yavne: no desk, so Rishon it is
Every town south of Rishon leans on it. Rehovot, home to about 155,000 people and the Weizmann Institute of Science, has no crypto cash point. We found no blockchain lab at the institute either, so don’t go looking for a “crypto centre” in town. Nes Ziona and Yavne have no desk on the operator’s list. For all of them, the nearest is Rothschild 1.
| Town | Point in town | Nearest | Straight-line distance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rehovot | None | Rothschild 1, Rishon | ~7.7 km |
| Nes Ziona | None | Rothschild 1, Rishon | Not measured |
| Yavne | None | Rothschild 1, Rishon | Not measured |
| Holon | None | Rishon or Tel Aviv | ~6.6 km |
| Ashdod | None | Rothschild 1, Rishon | ~24 km |
Per the Bitcoin Change branch list and BTC Map, 5 October 2026. Distance from the OpenStreetMap city centre.
From Rehovot or Nes Ziona the drive to Rishon is short, but do the maths properly. 7% of ₪2,000 is ₪140, before fuel and parking. If you are buying to hold and don’t need banknotes, a shekel bank transfer to a licensed platform costs anything from a fraction of a percent to about 2% plus VAT. Buying by bank transfer.
Families, commuters and small businesses
Rishon is a city of families and of daily commuters into Gush Dan. If you work in Tel Aviv you can choose between the King George desk, open until 20:00, and Rothschild 1, which closes at 19:00. The city also has a large Russian-speaking community. We found no data on local preferences, so the advice is the same for everyone: buying USDT directly from another person, on Telegram or by transfer, carries the same risks as in any other city.
For small businesses in the industrial zones thinking of accepting crypto or paying suppliers in USDT: a business is bound by the cash law (₪6,000 per deal), and the Tax Authority treats crypto as an asset, so every conversion is a taxable event. Talk to an accountant before, not after. Crypto tax in Israel.
Rishon LeZion shows both sides of the same market: a desk with a sign and an address that charges 7%, and an unlicensed service that ended in a raid with explosives. The difference isn’t the price. It is whether someone checks who you are and gives you a receipt.
For Rehovot, Nes Ziona and Yavne: Rothschild 1 is the nearest desk, though not always the cheapest option.
Frequently asked questions
Where is the bitcoin ATM in Rishon LeZion?
At the Bitcoin Change branch on Rothschild Street 1, in the old city centre, phone 03-5334963. It is staffed and has a two-way machine, so you can buy or sell BTC, ETH, BCH and USDT for shekel cash, at a 7% fee and up to ₪10,000 a day. Open Sunday–Thursday 10:00–19:00 and Friday 09:00–14:00; closed on Shabbat.
Can I buy crypto with cash at Bit2C’s office in Rishon?
No. OpenStreetMap marks a Bit2C office on David Saharov Street 11, but it is an office, not a service point. According to Bit2C’s FAQ, you cannot deposit cash, cheques or cards with it: only a bank transfer from an Israeli account in your own name. We could not confirm the address itself on the company’s website.
What happened in the raid on the illegal crypto service in Rishon LeZion?
In February 2026 the Lahav 433 national cyber crime unit arrested five suspects aged 30 to 50 after a months-long covert investigation into an illegal cryptocurrency financial service. Searches of homes and offices in the city reportedly turned up about ₪80,000 in cash, firearms, stun grenades, plastic explosives, ammunition and suspected cocaine.
I live in Rehovot. Where is the nearest crypto desk?
Rehovot has no crypto cash point, and neither do Nes Ziona or Yavne. The nearest is Rothschild 1 in Rishon LeZion, about 7.7 km in a straight line from central Rehovot. The next option is King George 50 in Tel Aviv. If you don’t need cash in hand, a bank transfer to a licensed platform costs less.
How late is the Rishon desk open on Friday?
Until 14:00. Sunday to Thursday it opens from 10:00 to 19:00, an hour shorter than Tel Aviv. It is closed on Shabbat, as is every other desk in Gush Dan. Hours may change on the eve of Jewish holidays, so it is worth calling ahead.
