The bitcoin ATM in Ramat Gan: what is at Tuval 36
Ramat Gan is one of the few Israeli cities where you can say “bitcoin ATM” without a footnote. At Tuval St 36, in the Bursa business district, Bitcoin Change runs a branch. It is the only network in the country that operates crypto machines. All 11 of its branches are staffed and each has a two-way Lamassu machine, but OpenStreetMap tags only three as a genuine ATM (amenity=atm): Ramat Gan, Beer Sheva and Ein Shemer. The rest are mapped as exchange counters.
Opening hours are Sunday to Thursday 10:00–19:00 and Friday 09:00–13:00. That Friday close is an hour earlier than Tel Aviv and Rishon LeZion, which catches people out. Closed on Shabbat. The phone number is 03-5362643, and the branch is wheelchair-accessible. The OpenStreetMap record was last surveyed in September 2023, so take current details from the operator’s site.
What can you do there? Buy BTC, ETH, BCH or USDT with shekel cash, or sell coins and walk out with shekels in multiples of ₪100. The rate comes from the Kraken exchange: a screen in the branch shows the market price, and the machine shows the shekel price with the fee included. The minimum purchase is ₪20.
What buying crypto in Ramat Gan costs, compared with online
The desk charges 7% each way, after Bitcoin Change raised it from 6% in 2026, its first change in a decade according to the operator. Its own worked example: put in ₪100 and receive bitcoin worth ₪93; to take out ₪100 in cash, send bitcoin worth ₪107. There is no extra FX charge on top.
The numbers make the point: the machine is not the cheap way in. What it is, in Ramat Gan, is the only way to turn banknotes into bitcoin without going through your bank and without a bank transfer that may prompt questions. It is not anonymous, though, and the limits are firm: ₪10,000 a day, ₪20,000 a week and ₪30,000 a month according to the operator. On top of that, Israel’s cash law caps cash payments to a business at ₪6,000 per transaction. We have not seen an explanation of how the two caps fit together, so call the branch before you turn up with a large amount.
Think about the other side of the trade, too. If you buy at the machine and plan to sell there later, you pay 7% going in and 7% coming out, roughly 14% for the round trip before the price has moved at all. If you want to sell USDT, check first: the operator’s homepage lists BTC, ETH and BCH for cash-out, while its FAQ includes USDT. The operator also says it does not report to the Tax Authority on your behalf, so declaring any gain, at 25% capital gains tax, stays your job.
The Diamond Exchange and crypto: an experiment from 2018
The Bursa district grew up around the Israel Diamond Exchange, one of the world’s three main diamond bourses alongside Antwerp and Mumbai. Over the years it turned into a large office and high-tech quarter, which is how a crypto ATM came to sit, by our rough estimate, about 300 metres from the exchange towers.

- 2013Coinmama is founded in Israel
The card-purchase broker was run from Ramat Gan for many years. It is now a brand of a Canadian group, with no Israeli licence.
- 2018Carats.io and the Diamond Exchange
The exchange backed a startup that announced two tokens: Carat for consumers, about 25% backed by diamonds listed on the exchange, and Cut for dealer-to-dealer trades. It raised $1.6 million.
- Sep 2023Tuval 36 is mapped as an ATM
One of only three Bitcoin Change points in Israel tagged amenity=atm on OpenStreetMap.
- 2026The fee rises to 7%
Bitcoin Change updates the fee across all branches, for buying and selling.
Press coverage of Carats.io linked the project explicitly to the opacity of the diamond trade and to money-laundering concerns: the pitch was that a blockchain record would add a paper trail to an industry built on personal trust. We could not confirm what became of the Carat token, and it is probably dormant. Nor do we have a source showing that diamond dealers use crypto today, so we will not claim they do.
What does matter to anyone in the district handling large sums is that the ATM is not built for them. The daily cap is low and cash payments to a business are limited by law. Large trades go through OTC instead: for example the Bits of Gold Premium service from ₪250,000, or Bit2C’s OTC desk, both settled by shekel bank transfer.
The desk for the neighbours, from Bnei Brak to Kfar Saba
Tuval 36 is not just Ramat Gan’s ATM. It is the nearest cash point for the eastern half of Gush Dan and the southern Sharon, because none of those cities has a branch of its own. Givatayim, right next door, has none either; residents there choose between Tuval 36 and King George 50 in Tel Aviv depending on which side of town they live on.
| City | Distance to Tuval 36 | More |
|---|---|---|
| Bnei Brak | ~2.8 km | Bnei Brak page |
| Petah Tikva | ~8 km | Petah Tikva page |
| Herzliya | ~10 km | Herzliya page |
| Ra’anana | ~12.7 km | covered on the Herzliya page |
| Kfar Saba | ~14.2 km | covered on the Herzliya page |
Straight-line distances from each city centre. Expect 20–40% more by road.
Inside Ramat Gan the audiences differ. A Bar-Ilan University student making a small first purchase may value the in-person help, but should know that ₪500 costs ₪35 in fees. People working in the Bursa towers are a short walk away, yet most will be better served by an app. And anyone coming over from Bnei Brak or Petah Tikva on a Friday has to be there before 13:00.
The Tuval 36 machine has a clear job: the legal, ID-checked way to turn cash into crypto, and back, for everyone living between Bnei Brak and Kfar Saba.
But 7% each way is a service fee, not an investment cost. Anyone buying monthly, or planning to hold for years, will pay far less by bank transfer to a licensed Israeli platform. Keep the desk for cases where cash is the point: a small sale into banknotes, a first purchase with help, or someone without a convenient bank account.

Frequently asked questions
Where is the bitcoin ATM in Ramat Gan?
At Tuval St 36 in the Bursa business district. It is a staffed Bitcoin Change branch with a two-way machine, and OpenStreetMap tags it as an ATM (amenity=atm, last surveyed September 2023). It opens Sunday to Thursday 10:00–19:00 and Friday 09:00–13:00, phone 03-5362643, and it is wheelchair-accessible.
What fee does the Tuval 36 machine charge?
Seven percent on buys and seven percent on sells, on top of the Kraken exchange rate. The operator raised the fee from 6% in 2026, so older maps and listings may still show 6%. Hand over ₪1,000 in cash and you receive coins worth about ₪930. There is no separate currency-conversion charge.
What do I need to bring on my first visit?
Two valid ID documents: an Israeli ID card plus a passport or driving licence. Staff photograph both and you fill in a short know-your-customer questionnaire, which the operator says the anti-money-laundering rules require. You also need a crypto wallet on your phone; if you do not have one, staff can help you install it.
Can I sell bitcoin for cash in Ramat Gan?
Yes. The machine works both ways: you send coins from your wallet and collect shekel notes in multiples of ₪100, at a 7% fee. The operator’s homepage lists BTC, ETH and BCH for sale, while its FAQ also mentions USDT. Because the two pages disagree, call the branch before you go if you want to sell USDT.
Is the ATM really next to the Diamond Exchange?
It is in the same district. By our estimate it sits about 300 metres from the Diamond Exchange towers, but that figure uses an approximate coordinate for the complex, so treat it as a rough guide rather than a measurement. Navigate to Tuval St 36 itself, not to the exchange building.
