There is no bitcoin ATM in Petah Tikva
The short answer first, since that is what most people come here for: as of October 2026 Petah Tikva has no bitcoin ATM. We went through the branch list on the Bitcoin Change website (the only crypto machine network operating in Israel), OpenStreetMap and BTC Map. None of them shows anything in the city. No machine, no staffed cash desk, not even a shop tagged as accepting bitcoin.
That is a real gap. Petah Tikva is one of Israel’s largest cities, with about 270,000 residents and two big business parks, yet anyone who wants to buy crypto in Petah Tikva with cash has to leave town to do it. We could not read Coin ATM Radar, which blocks automated access, so it is worth a quick look there or a call to the operator before you set off, in case something new has opened.
If a Telegram or WhatsApp group offers you a “crypto change” in Petah Tikva, be careful. We know of no such place, and anyone providing crypto services to the public in Israel needs a licence from the Capital Market, Insurance and Savings Authority (CMISA). More on that below.
The nearest desk: Tuval 36, Ramat Gan
Your closest option is the Bitcoin Change branch at Tuval St 36, in Ramat Gan’s Bursa business district, roughly 8 km from central Petah Tikva as the crow flies. Expect 20–40% more on the road. It is also one of only three Bitcoin Change points that OpenStreetMap tags as an actual ATM rather than a counter. The fallback is King George St 50 in Tel Aviv, about 10.5 km away.

Hours and phones from the operator’s site, 5 October 2026. Distances are straight-line from the city centre. All branches close on Shabbat.
Getting there is not complicated. Petah Tikva is well connected to Ramat Gan and Tel Aviv by bus and train, and any journey planner will find the fastest line from your neighbourhood. If you drive, remember that the Bursa is a dense office district and parking takes time.
The process is identical at every branch. On a first visit you bring two valid ID documents (an Israeli ID card plus a passport or driving licence) and fill in a short questionnaire. You also need a wallet app on your phone; staff will help you install one. You can buy BTC, ETH, BCH and USDT, for shekel cash only. The fee is 7% each way, up from 6% in 2026, so older map listings may still show the old figure.
Buying crypto from Petah Tikva without leaving home
If you do not specifically need cash, the trip to Ramat Gan is usually the expensive choice. Seven percent of ₪5,000 is ₪350, and if you later sell at the same desk you pay 7% again, so a round trip costs about 14%. What the desk offers in return is a person across the counter and no bank transfer.
A trip to the Ramat Gan desk
- Shekel cash, no bank transfer
- Face-to-face help setting up a wallet
- 7% each way, ₪10,000/day cap
- Temporary CMISA permit (57960); full licence pending
Bank transfer to a licensed platform
- Bits of Gold: 1.95% down to 1.20% + VAT, ₪750 minimum
- Bit2C order book: 1.25% down to 0.05%
- Permanent CMISA licence
- Money returns to your bank from a recognised source
Israel’s two platforms with a permanent retail licence are Bits of Gold (licence 56716) and Bit2C (licence 72080, owned by eToro since Q2 2026). Both work in shekels against a bank account in your own name, and neither takes cash. International exchanges also accept Israeli residents and let you pay by card or Apple Pay. They are fast, but none of them holds an Israeli licence, and they charge in dollars. The full comparison is on our best crypto exchanges page.
Where Coinbase started its Israeli R&D
Petah Tikva has a footnote in the industry’s history. In late 2021 Coinbase, the Nasdaq-listed US exchange, bought Israel’s Unbound Security, which built multi-party computation (MPC) technology for managing cryptographic keys. Coinbase announced an Israeli R&D centre built on Unbound’s team of about 50 people. According to Globes and Calcalist, Unbound’s office was in Petah Tikva, which makes the city the starting point of Coinbase’s operations in Israel.

Two caveats. We have not verified where the Coinbase office is located in 2026. And it is an engineering centre, not a service branch, so you cannot walk in and buy bitcoin there. Coinbase’s feature set for Israeli residents is also unconfirmed, which is one reason it sits sixth in our ranking rather than higher.
Kiryat Aryeh, Kiryat Matalon and the hospitals
Petah Tikva’s economy rests on the Kiryat Aryeh and Kiryat Matalon business and high-tech parks, on the R&D offices of multinational companies, and on two large medical centres: Rabin (Beilinson) and Schneider Children’s. That mix shapes who searches for crypto here.
A tech employee who receives part of their pay in tokens, or who bought early and is sitting on a gain, will quickly run into the bank question rather than the ATM question. For them the pages that matter are selling and withdrawing to an Israeli account, the bank’s source-of-funds check (Directive 411 calls for scrutiny above roughly ₪100,000 a year) and 25% capital gains tax.
Shift workers in the hospitals and industrial zones, on the other hand, sometimes want cash specifically. A 2024 Walla report described foreign workers as heavy users of Israel’s crypto machines, sending money home. That is a national observation, not a Petah Tikva statistic, but it explains why a desk in Ramat Gan still matters here. Note that Tuval 36 closes at 19:00, so a late shift means planning around a day off.
In Petah Tikva, the Ramat Gan desk is the answer for people who genuinely need cash, not the default.
Anyone with a bank account and a phone will usually pay around a third of the desk fee on a licensed Israeli platform, and get a cleaner route back to the bank when they sell. The trip to Tuval 36 is worth it when there is a real reason: no convenient bank account, a need for face-to-face help, or a small first purchase where you want a human to walk you through it.
Petah Tikva on the map
The map shows Petah Tikva inside Gush Dan, with the three desks around it in Ramat Gan, Tel Aviv and Rishon LeZion. The closest neighbours have their own pages: Ramat Gan, Bnei Brak and Tel Aviv. All 11 points in the country are listed on our bitcoin ATM Israel page.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a bitcoin ATM in Petah Tikva?
No. As of October 2026 there is no bitcoin ATM, crypto cash desk or bitcoin-accepting shop in Petah Tikva: not on the Bitcoin Change branch list, not on OpenStreetMap, not on BTC Map. The nearest point is the Bitcoin Change desk at Tuval St 36 in Ramat Gan, about 8 km in a straight line from the city centre. Coin ATM Radar could not be read, so check it or call the operator before you travel.
How much does the nearest crypto cash desk charge?
The Ramat Gan desk charges what every Bitcoin Change branch charges: 7% on buys and 7% on sells, on top of the Kraken rate. Hand over ₪1,000 and you receive coins worth about ₪930. The operator caps customers at ₪10,000 a day, ₪20,000 a week and ₪30,000 a month, and you need two valid ID documents on your first visit.
What is the cheapest way to buy crypto from Petah Tikva?
Usually a shekel bank transfer to a licensed Israeli platform. Bits of Gold charges 1.95% falling to 1.20% by volume, plus VAT, with a ₪750 minimum for bank-transfer buys. Bit2C’s order book charges 1.25% down to 0.05%. Both hold permanent licences from the Capital Market, Insurance and Savings Authority, and neither accepts cash.
Does Coinbase have an office in Petah Tikva?
Coinbase bought Israel’s Unbound Security, an MPC key-management company, in late 2021 and built an Israeli R&D centre on its team of roughly 50 people. Globes and Calcalist reported that Unbound’s office was in Petah Tikva, so that is where Coinbase’s Israeli operations began. We have not confirmed where the office sits today, and it is an engineering site, not a customer branch.
Is the Ramat Gan desk open on Friday?
Friday mornings only. Tuval 36 opens Sunday to Thursday from 10:00 to 19:00 and on Friday from 09:00 to 13:00, an hour earlier than the Tel Aviv branch closes. All branches are closed on Shabbat. If you finish work in Kiryat Aryeh after five, a midweek day off is the realistic option.
